Email vs Phone enquiries
04/08/2009
With the introduction of the internet into most homes and businesses, we find we save a vast amount of time with the option of emailing enquiries rather than by phone. Most of us utilize this form of communication, often daily for obtaining information especially whilst in the midst of planning a wedding. Whilst this may be an efficient method of communicating, is it the best and most appropriate way of planning your wedding?
Your day is generally an event which is a reflection of your personality and personal style. Therefor it's important not to get lost in only the cost of an industry professional but to remember the professionals are being hired to record that style. Can this be achieved through email? Yes, emailing enquiries will allow you to obtain a larger amount of quotes and allow you to free up more time, however is this the criteria you want to adopt when planning such an important day of your life? Only emailing your enquiries can prove to have a detrimental impact on your wedding. Even though price can prove to be a major deciding factor when choosing a wedding supplier, it's important to remember this isn't the only criteria. Couple’s often focus only on the price of a wedding professional when looking, however later realize it's not worth taking the gamble on such an important day.
This is across all areas of your wedding, however it's even more relevant when choosing a photographer. The photographer at your wedding is like your story-teller. It's important your photographer is well organized, approachable and most importantly, their personality must be one that clicks with yours. In some cases, you can find your wedding photographer simply by how well your initial phone conversation goes.
By only emailing enquiries, you are obtaining information from a variety of companies who do not fit your initial criteria. By phoning wedding professionals you are interested in, allows you to make a judgement from the initial conversation whether this person feels right to contribute to your wedding. Whilst reading bridal publications and websites etc, look for companies who have the service you are after. Look for something in their advertisement that you empathise with. Look for a specific look or feeling in their past work that you want to replicate on your day. Make a short list of companies who are of interest to you and make the call, and have the initial conversation with them.
By adopting a procedure of verbal communication your enquiries, can prove to not only save you the hassle of obtaining unnecessary quotes, but can also put you in contact with the person who best suits you and your personality.

ROYCE HOTEL
22/08/09
This wedding was the last minute booking. I met the couple a month ago. The wedding was at the Royce hotel St Kilda Road Melbourne. The weather was glorious, the people were lovely, and the eleven hour of photography really flew by.
In fact the whole day was great.
